Inside Kisama, beyond the front row

Each Naga tribe builds its own morung at Kisama. We arrive early, walk the morungs with a local cultural guide, share rice beer with elders and photograph performances from positions ticket-only travellers never reach.

    Dimapur to Kohima

    Drive into the hills, welcome dinner at a heritage Angami home.

  2. Days 2–4

    Hornbill Festival immersion

    Three days at Kisama — early mornings in the morungs, afternoon performances, evening rock concert and indigenous food.

  3. Days 5–6

    Khonoma village

    Walk the terraces, visit forest groves, meet conservationists and weavers; overnight in an Angami home.

  4. Day 7

    Kohima WWII walk

    Commonwealth War Cemetery and Battle of Kohima sites with a historian guide; afternoon at the State Museum.

  5. Day 8

    Return via Dimapur

When is the Hornbill Festival held?

1 to 10 December every year at Kisama Heritage Village, 12 km from Kohima. The most spectacular performances run on days 2–6.

Do I need a permit for Nagaland?

Indian travellers no longer need an Inner Line Permit; foreign nationals must register under the Protected Area regime. We handle both.

How early should I book the Hornbill Festival package?

Six to nine months ahead. Kohima boutique stays and Khonoma village homes sell out by July for the December festival.
