Kaziranga Wildlife Safari Toursthe rhino capital of the planet.

Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the south bank of the Brahmaputra, holds the planet's largest concentration of one-horned rhinoceros — more than 2,600 — alongside one of India's densest tiger populations, wild Asian elephants, eastern swamp deer and water buffalo. Our Kaziranga journeys are private, naturalist-led and built around the park's four ranges and the rhythms of the river.

01

The four ranges and what each offers

Central (Kohora) — the classic rhino-and-elephant grasslands, easiest sightings. Western (Bagori) — the densest rhino numbers, the strongest tiger photography. Eastern (Agoratoli) — wetlands, raptors, eastern swamp deer, far fewer vehicles. Burapahar — hills, hoolock gibbons, white-winged duck. We rotate ranges across a three-night stay; one range and one safari is not enough.

02

Jeep, elephant-back and river safaris

Jeep safaris at dawn and mid-afternoon across the four ranges; elephant-back safaris are limited and require pre-booking by November for winter slots. Brahmaputra river safaris from Bhuyanpara at dawn — the river is where the gangetic dolphins, fish eagles and migrating ducks live.

03

Where to stay

Diphlu River Lodge (riverside, naturalist-led, the most respected); IORA the Retreat (boutique, family-run); Borgos (boutique, garden-set); Infinity Resort (mid-luxury, near Central). We brief, book and assign the right lodge to your group size and pace.

04

Beyond the park

Karbi Anglong tribal villages on the southern boundary; Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, two hours east, for the only ape in India; Majuli, the world's largest river island, four hours west; tea-garden bungalow lunches en route from Guwahati or Jorhat.

05

Season and timing

Open 1 November to 30 April. Best wildlife visibility from late November as the grass burns back. February–March is peak for tiger sightings. The park closes through monsoon when 70% of it floods. Three nights at minimum; four is better.
